Maybe you need to attend to your home organizing projects in efforts to get the place painted. Maybe you are in need of a change and desire more floor space for your own feet rather than inanimate objects? Did you know you can get your home organizing projects done virtually?

You need never let a stranger into your home in order to get the expertise necessary to do it right!

By scheduling the time in your calendar, working with an accountability partner and following tested organizing processes you too can attend to the zones of your home needing attention to create visual relief, to catalogue your collection, to offer up money making products for an upcoming library sale!

Book shelf of classic authors in historic house

Our first session of Declutter Together Virtually with the Hampden, Orono, Old Town Maine Adult Education Association was a proud success with participants realizing how much they could accomplish in 1 hour! Two boxes of books and two shelving units to donation and an added bonus: forgotten hidden jewelry discovered!

We started off with a quick assessment overview of goals, expectations, challenges and a mini-training to inform our work together touching on principles outlined by organizing trailblazer Julie Morgenstern in her two books Organizing & Time Management from the Inside Out.

Organized book shelves

There are many ways to categorize a book collection; alphabetically by author last name, genre, geography, read vs. yet to read, most frequently used vs. hardly used at all, color(see The Home Edit) and even mood! The client decides on the categories and the organizer offers suggestions not yet considered along with insight to pitfalls that may creep up in the process.

Starting from the top left(just like reading a book), we evaluate the collection book by book to see what will earn its rent in the home you pay dearly for.

Maybe water has spilled on the book possibly producing mold-in the trash! Maybe the print is too small for your aging eyes-donated! Maybe because you haven’t organized in a while you bought two of the same books-donated or given to a friend! Maybe you have decided you’re not much for reading Stephen King’s horror alone in your living room-donated!

When alone you might get distracted by checking your phone for messages or delving deep into a book that sparks your curiosity Using virtual organizing you stay on task and bounce ideas off a skilled practitioner.

We are sure to include productivity skills of calendaring and time management while we work teaching you how to “fish” effectively.  We spark your inspiration and confidence as you create the reality from your vision, so long held in your imagination and so long put off because you thought it would take longer than it actually does!

We suggest different ways to store your books such as this photo taken at Goodwill in Augusta, Maine:

Finally we leave you with homework to finish the project if you wish or go with you to the end system: a finished project of a peaceful place to read!
